Maltese MGA License for Online Casinos and Betting
Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) is Malta's gambling regulator, founded in 2001 (originally known as the Lotteries and Gaming Authority). Immediately after the adoption of the Lotteries and Gaming Act of 2001, MGA became the first in the European Union to issue licenses for online gambling.
An MGA license allows online casinos to operate in countries where such licenses are recognized (especially within the EU due to the principle of free provision of services). However, in certain jurisdictions (for example, France and Germany) there are strict restrictions on online gambling, and MGA licenses are not accepted there.
