Description

When it first opened in 1973, the MGM Grand was the biggest, most expensive and luxurious hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip and the Largest Resort Hotel in the World with 2,100 rooms. Headline acts included Dean Martin, Johnny Mathes, Engelbert Humperdinck, Rich Little, Donna Summer and Mac Davis. In 1980 it suffered one of the worst high rise fires in United States history. It was subsequently remodelled and an additional tower was opened in 1981. In 1986 the hotel was sold to Bally Manufacturing and the former Marina Hotel became the new site for the MGM Grand. In the 1960s the property where the MGM is now located was the Golf Club Motel that was renovated and became the Marina hotel from 1975 to 1990. The new MGM Grand opened in 1993 and became the largest single hotel in the United States. Since then the resort has undergone numerous changes including the addition of new buildings and has been kept up to date with regular renovations. The MGM Grand now has a total of 6,852 rooms and suites.

With one of the largest gaming floors in Las Vegas, you can spin to win with bets ranging from 1 cent to $1,000 on over 2,500 slot machines including progressive slots, video poker and multi gaming machines. Historical boxing superfights have included Evander Holyfield vs Mike Tyson II, Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Canelo Álvarex and Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury II. It has also hosted the Latin Grammy Awards, the Academy of Country Music Awards and the Billboard Music Awards. Upcoming events include All Elite Wrestling Double or Nothing, The Millennium Tour 2021 and Harry Styles: Love on Tour.

Ká Theatre is the permanent home to Cirque du Soleil's production Ká which tells the tale of twins who are on an epic journey to fulfill their shared destiny.

Bars and Restaurants

Joël Robuchon´s Three Michelin Star restaurant has a quiet and intimate atmosphere where you can enjoy the best in French cuisine. Tasting menus are changed inter seasonally and include L'Avocat, Le Homard du Maine, La Betterave, L Cuisse de Grenouille, La Langoustine, L´Artichaut, L´Oursin, La Noix de Saint Jacques, Le Saint-Pierre and Le Caviar Impérial. Desserts include L'Ananas, Le Papillon Chocolat Azélia and Le Chevreuil.

L´Atelier de Joël Robuchon is a unique restaurant concept from Chef Joël Robuchon where guests can watch their meals being prepared in the open kitchen. The Seasonal Discovery Menu is popular and there are three appetite menus and a small tasting menu. Other dishes include Seared Dover Sole, Caramelized Quail, Smoked Salmon and Malabar pepper coated Beef Tenderloin.

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill features Puck´s signature comfort food favourites. Popular dishes include Crispy Jidori Chicken Wings, Grilled Steak Skewers, Maryland Blue Crab Cakes, Prime Burgers, Seared Salmon, Half Jidori Chicken, Double Cut Pork Chop, Filet Mignon, Skirt Steak, New York Strip, Spaghetti & Meatballs and Maine Lobster Fettuccine. There is also a large selection of wood fired pizzas, pasta dishes and sandwiches.

Hakkasan is a modern Chinese Restaurant from Michelin Star Chef Ho Chee Boon. There are five different Signature menus, the Taste of Hakkasan menu, the All That and Dim Sum Menu as well as a range of Appetizers and Entrees that feature fish, seafood, meats, Noodles and Rice. The Peking Duck with Tsar Nicoulai Reserve Caviar, and Sir Fry Black Pepper Beef Ribeye will have your taste buds tingling.

Emeril's New Orleans Fish House by Creole Chef Emeril Lagasse serves Louisiana´s comfort food with a modern twist. Dishes include a Chilled Seafood Tower, Gumbo, Oysters, Creole Shrimp & Grits, Grilled Spanish Octopus and Fried Florida Frog Legs. Signature dishes include Pecan Crusted Redfish, Lobster Pot Pie, Kurobuta Pork Belly and Shelton Farms Chicken Breast. You can also enjoy a range of Steaks, sides and sandwiches.

International Smoke from Curry and Mina is home to Steak, Seafood and Rib dishes. From the Wood Fired Grill you can enjoy Filet Mignon, Rib Eye, New York Strip and Prime Flat Iron Steaks. From the Smoker you can enjoy half or whole racks of pork ribs with your choice of American Barbeque, Vietnamese Chilli Lemongrass or Korean Sesame Gochujang sauces. There is a good selection of starters, salads, entrees, sides and desserts.

Tom Colicchio's Craftsteak is a restaurant that features ingredients from small family farms, day-boat fishermen and artisanal producers. The Chef's Menu is 3 courses and features Double R Beef and Domestic Wagyu. Other dishes include Beef Tartare, Lobster Bisque. Short Ribs, Filet Mignon, Diver Sea Scallops, Fresh Salmon, Veal, Lobster Chilean Sea Bass and the Cinnamon Monkey Bread is a must for dessert.

Crush American Grill from Jenna and Michael Morton serves dishes that were created by Executive Chef Willliam DeMarco. Popular dishes include Ahi Tuna, Crispy Shrimp, Short Rib Tacos, Maine Lobster Rolls, a selection of Wood Fired Pizzas, an 8oz Angus Burger, Chicken Fettuccine, Shrimp Risotto, Filet Mignon, Sea Bass, New York Sirloin and Grilled Salmon.

Greek Sneek also from Jenna and MIchael Morton, serves Greek and Mediterrainean dishes such as Mykonos and Caesar Salads, House made Hummus, Charred Octopus, Greek Patates, Woodfired pizzas with Gyro or Meatball toppings, Chicken, Lamb or Steak Gryos, Chicken Kebabs, Feta Stuffed Half Chicken, Rack of Lamb, Grilled Salmon and Branzino.

Ambra Italian Kitchen and Bar uses fresh fish in their Crudos including King Salmon, Oysters and Bluefin Tuna. They also serve salads, Hot and Cold Antipasti dishes such as Calamari Fritto, Octopus Carpaccio, Prime Beef Tartare, Artisan Salumi. Homemade Pasta dishes and Entrées include Lobster Spaghetti, Black Angus Ribeye and Chicken Al Limone. Specialities include Tomahawk Ribeye, Veal Chop Marsala and Black Angus Prime Filet Mignon.

Morimoto Las Vegas has Japanese cuisine from Chef Morimoto. Special dishes include Maki Dquares, a Tomahawk Ribeye and tableside Buri Bop. Other menu items are Toro Tartare, Spicy Tuna Tacos, Wagyu Beef Carpaccio, Sticky Ribs and Rock Shrimp Tempura.

There is a range of Soups and Noodles, Sushi and Sashimi, an A La Carte Teppanyaki menu or you can choose to enjoy the Teppanyaki Course Menu.

Pieology has a unique concept where you can design your own artisan pizza. With a choice of fresh dough and sauces, numerous toppings and different cheeses your custom stone hearth pizza will be ready in just a few minutes. There is also a selection of Salads and sweet pizzas for dessert.

Avenue Café features an all you can eat Pancake and Waffle menu. For breakfast there is an option to build your own omelette, or you can fill up with an American Breakfast, Steak & Eggs, Breakfast Burrito, Eggs Benedict, French Toast, Yoghurt Parfait, Oatmeal or a Sliced Fruit Plate. Lunch dishes include Chicken Two Ways, Quesadilla, Salads, Chicken Noodle Soup, NY Steak Sandwich, Pan Seared Salmon and Pasta dishes.

TAP Sports Bar has 60 HD screens where you can keep your eye on the action of live sporting events. The menu includes Wings with a choice of sauces, TAP Nachos, Mac & Cheese, Loaded Fries, Sandwiches, BBQ Pork Sliders, Philly Style Cheesesteak, Thai Chicken Salad and Green Caesar Salad. Their Signature Burgers include Captain´s and All American, they have a range of Steaks, Old School Fish & Chips and a Chicken Strip Platter.

Hecho en Vegas Mexican Grill & Cantina has over 100 tequilas for you to try. Mexican dishes include Chips & Salsa, Ceviche de Camaron, Nachos, Chicken Flautas and Mesquite Grilled Chicken Quesadilla. They have a range of Tacos, Fajitas, Burritos, Bowls & Chimichangas, Enchiladas, Tamales and Tortas. Specialty dishes include Steak & Eggs, Avocado Toast, Chiles Toreados and Chilaquiles. You can even build your own Margarita.

MGM Grand Buffet has a great choice of cuisine from around the world. For breakfast you can enjoy all your breakfast favourites or use the made to order omelette station, Brunch offerings include Tri tip, Fried Chicken, made to order Pizzas, Brisket and Champagne brunch. Dinner specialities include New York Strip, BBQ Pork Ribs, Cocktail Shrimp and Crab Legs.

West End Market offer quick bites such as Breakfast Sandwiches, Pastries, Danishes, Paninis, Bagels and Loaf Cakes. They also have a wide selection of coffees including a House Blend, Cafe Americano, Espresso, Latte, Cappuccino, Mocha and Frappuccinos. They also serve Hot and Cold Teas, Hot Chocolate and Bottled drinks.

Bonanno's New York Pizzeria has a large selection of Pizzas that are available by the slice or pie. They also have Pasta dishes, Stromboli, various Salads and Entrees.

Also in the resort you will find Blizz Frozen Yoghurt and Desserts, Starbucks and Subway.

Accomodation

There are 4 different hotels within the MGM Grand and a total of 6,852 rooms, suites and villas. The Signature at MGM Grand is made up of three towers that each have 576 suites in them. Every tower has its own private pool with cabanas and direct access to the MGM Grand pools. The main hotel building has 5,044 rooms including 751 suites. The top two floors of the main building are occupied by The Skylofts at MGM Grand, which is a Five Star Hotel that has 51 lofts for guests to stay in. The Mansion is home to 29 villas that are reserved for VIPs, Casino Invited Guests and Celebrities.

Outside there is a lush 6.5 acre oasis that houses four swimming pools, three whirlpools, a lazy river and cascading waterfalls. You can relax on a comfy daybed, grab a massage or rent a spacious cabana that seats up to 8 people, has a flat screen tv and a personalized bottle and food service. The Hunger Games: The Exhibition is located in the District and celebrates and explores the epic journey of Katniss Everdeen. You will go on a mission and become a part of the rebellion to conquer the capitol in this dynamic interactive exploration of the world of Panem.

CSI: The Experience originally opened in September 2009 and has now been relocated to The Underground. This interactive attraction lets you try to solve one of three different murder cases, aided by Gil Grisson and his team. At the end of the experience you receive a case summary and a CSI Diploma.

The Monorail that originally connected the MGM Grand to Bally's later became the southernmost section of the Las Vegas Monorail network.
